About This Beer

MAD Cat is our traditional German style Maibock. Our MAD Cat Maibock features a heavy dose of Pilsner and CaraPils malt with a hefty pitch of German Perle hops for a distinct experience. This beautiful beer is pale gold in color and has a full, rich, and smooth mouthfeel. The flavor emphasis is on the malt with a hint of sweetness and notes of alcohol and spice. "MAD Cat" was the nickname given to specially modified American PBY-5 Catalina patrol planes. These aircraft were assigned anti-submarine roles during WWII. The MAD Cat was specially configured to carry Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD) equipment, considered a secret weapon at that time.
